You take your beliefs with you, paradise doesn’t fix them

Paradise Does Not Fix What You Carry With You

On why changing your environment is not the same as changing what is going on inside, and what actually does.

Something I have noticed since we have been travelling. There is this idea that when you are living in paradise, everything is just perfect. The sunshine, the food, the people, the experiences. And yeah, it is amazing. Don't get me wrong.

But let me tell you this.

If you have still got shit going on, if you have got limiting beliefs, when you come travelling, they get loud. Really loud. Because all the external stuff that you were using to cope at home, the job, the school run, the shitty weather, the busyness, that disappears. And when it does, what has been quietly running underneath finally has room to surface. It is not that travel creates silence. It is that it removes the familiar things you were leaning on to avoid it.

What I noticed in myself

I noticed it in myself first. Moments where everything around me was genuinely beautiful and something inside was still restless. Not broken. Just unfinished. And I have seen it in other families we have met along the way. People in stunning places who still cannot quite land. And that is not because something is wrong with where they are. It is because what they are carrying came with them.

That is the point really. It does not matter where you are in the world. It does not matter what your external environment looks like. If you have still got stuff going on inside, limiting beliefs around confidence, money, work, your own worth, they will still be there. Even if everything around you changes.

The thing people think will fix it

Yes, your environment has a massive impact on how you feel. Of course it does. But it does not remove what is going on inside. And that is what people think. If I move to a new house, the internal stuff disappears. If I get a better job, I will feel more worthy. If I earn more money, I will finally feel settled. It doesn't work like that. It might make things feel a little better for a while. But if you have got those root beliefs, they do not just disappear because your circumstances changed.

You have to deal with them at the root. Rewrite them. So you do feel worthy. So you do feel confident. So you do feel settled, not because of what is around you, but because of what is true inside you.

Why I came here and what happened when I did

I want to be clear about something. I did not come to paradise to escape. I did not pack up my life and start travelling because I was running from something. I came because for the first time, I actually felt aligned. I had done a lot of internal work before any of this happened. I had sat with the stuff, the limiting beliefs, the confidence, all of it. And slowly, something settled. That is when this life became possible. Not before.

But then something else happened. Something I was not expecting. When we arrived here and my nervous system finally found this stillness, this real sense of peace, it did not want to let it go. And so quietly, without me even fully realising it at first, I started to pull back from my business. Started to doubt whether I even wanted clients. Whether I wanted anything that might disturb this feeling I had finally found.

It was not resistance. It was protection. My nervous system had found something precious and it was doing everything it could to keep it safe.

What I did about it

So I did what I always do. I went deeper. I received my own advanced session. And what came out of that was clarity around what my business actually needs to look like from this place. A model that works with my regulated nervous system, not against it. A way of working that does not ask me to trade this freedom for success.

And everything feels different now. Not because I fixed something. Because I listened to what was actually going on and worked with it rather than pushing through it.

What this means for you

That is always the answer. Not a new environment. Not a fresh start somewhere else. Just a willingness to look at what is surfacing and do the work at the root. You can do that wherever you are right now. And when you do, whatever life you choose after that, you will be choosing it from freedom. Not from trying to get away from yourself.

That is the difference. And it changes everything.
